Jazz Brunch Fundraiser Benefits Delaware Hospice Families

Avie Wheeler Jr., Director of HOMEssentials and Fox & Roach Charities; Troy Silliman, Chairman, Delaware Hospice Board of Trustees; Susan Lloyd, President and C.E.O. Delaware Hospice; Lawrence F. Flick, IV, President and C.E.O., Prudential Fox & Roach, and Al Santoro.

$55,000 was raised at Fox & Roach Charities’ signature event, the Barbara Santoro Jazz Brunch, held on Sunday, March 25th, to benefit the nonprofit Delaware Hospice.

Barbara Santoro, representing Prudential Fox & Roach Realty, worked on the committee for the first Jazz Brunch benefit which was designed to become Fox & Roach Charities’ Signature Event.  Sadly, within the year Barbara was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t survive to see the concept become reality.  Thus, the event was named the “Barbara Santoro Jazz Brunch” and is held each year in her honor to benefit Delaware Hospice patients and families.

The ultimate beneficiaries of this charity event will be the patients and families who rely on Delaware Hospice for its high standards of quality hospice and palliative care.

Since 1982, 26,000 families have sought the aid of Delaware Hospice as they courageously faced the most precious time of a loved one’s life.  In response, Delaware Hospice’s experienced staff has tenderly and expertly guided each family, while giving them the gifts of control and choice.  Delaware Hospice’s goal is to help each patient, each day, live the fullest, most comfortable life possible.

Through the generous contributions of volunteers, donors, and sponsors such as Fox and Roach Charities, Delaware Hospice has been able to expand its services to the community.  Families receive extensive bereavement support and counseling.  Seriously ill patients who are not appropriate for hospice care find relief and community resources through Delaware Hospice’s Transitions Program.  Most importantly, donors’ gifts ensure access to hospice care for all—no patient is ever billed for Delaware Hospice’s services.

Delaware Hospice gratefully acknowledges the annual support of Fox & Roach Charities in organizing this benefit.
