Howard T. Ennis students make a donation to Delaware Hospice
Delaware Hospice’s Georgetown staff members were honored by a visit from Howard T. Ennis students bearing gifts of coins. The students chose local charities to donate the coins which had been used in a school project. Their teacher, Karen Montague, said, “We brought the children to personally present their gift so that they would realize that the money would be going to a real place and that it would be helping people in our community.”
Since 1982, 26,000 families have sought the aid of Delaware Hospice as they courageously faced the most precious time of a loved one’s life. In response, Delaware Hospice’s experienced staff has tenderly and expertly guided each family, while giving them the gifts of control and choice. Delaware Hospice’s goal is to help each patient, each day, live the fullest, most comfortable life possible.
Through the generous contributions of donors, such as the Howard T. Ennis students, Delaware Hospice has been able to expand its services to the community. Families receive extensive bereavement support and counseling; children find their own special help in the New Hope Program. Seriously ill patients not appropriate for hospice care find relief and community resources through the Transitions Program. Most importantly, donors’ gifts ensure access to hospice care for all—no patient is ever billed for Delaware Hospice’s services.
Team Leader for Delaware Hospice, Claire Walsh said, “We were all touched that they were thinking of others in their time of need.”
Delaware Hospice Office Manager, Kelly Conaway, expressed her appreciation on behalf of the organization, saying, “This was a very special visit and we all enjoyed it so very much.”
