Delaware Hospice Golf Outing Raises $48,000
Players, friends and supporters raised $47,510 at the Delaware Hospice Golf Outing in a record-breaking event on September 27, 2007, held at White Clay Creek Country Club. Delaware Hospice expresses its sincere appreciation to Golf Outing Committee Members: Nash Childs, Committee Chair, Kris Hable, Barbara Hines, Chris Lee, Don Priester, Henry “Hank” Seiler, Bill Tansey, and Judith Stout.
Presenting sponsor for the tournament was Coventry Health Care of Delaware. Primary sponsors were: The Chesapeake Companies; Cravath, Swaine & Moore; Harvey, Hanna & Associates, Inc.; Valero Delaware City Refinery; Delaware Today; and Mike Uffner, AutoTeam Delaware. VIP sponsors were: Bancroft Construction Company, Burgess Communications, Delaware Park, Doroshow, Pasquale, Kravitz & Bhaya, DuPont, Labware, Inc., Chris and Betsy Lee, Nason Construction, New Castle County Councilman Bill Tansey, Anne and Don Priester, Reese Lower Patrick & Scott, and Software Services of Delaware.
Since 1982, nearly 30,000 families have sought the aid of Delaware Hospice as they face a life-limiting illness. In response, Delaware Hospice’s experienced staff has tenderly and expertly given each patient member and family the care and support they deserve as well as the gifts of control and choice. Delaware Hospice’s goal is to help each patient, each day, live the fullest, most comfortable life possible.
Through the generous contributions of donors, volunteers, and sponsors, and as the only not for profit, Delaware Hospice has been able to expand its services to the community. To help deal with the illness and loss of a family member, children and teens benefit from grief counseling activities in the New Hope Program or at our Camp New Hope—the perfect environment for them to begin to heal. Seriously ill patients, who are not appropriate for hospice care, find support and community resources through Delaware Hospice’s Transitions Program. Most importantly, donors’ gifts ensure access to hospice care for all—no patient is ever billed for Delaware Hospice’s services.
In Spring of 2008, Delaware Hospice will open the doors to its new state-of-the-art hospice center. The Delaware Hospice Center, with 16 private patient/family suites, will be a new option for those who require short-term stays for pain and symptom management. The Center will provide education to caregivers, and will also house a Community Resource Center and a Counseling Center.
