Delaware Hospice welcomes new Regional Medical Director for the Delaware Hospice Center

Linda M. De Feo, M.D., J.D., of Rehoboth Beach, has joined the medical staff of Delaware Hospice as a Regional Medical Director with primary responsibility for the new Delaware Hospice Center.
As Regional Medical Director, Dr. De Feo will provide medical expertise to Delaware Hospice’s care teams and will consult and collaborate with physicians. She will conduct educational seminars to health care professionals to gain a better understanding of hospice care, thus assuring that hospice services are accessible to patients and families.
Dr. De Feo earned her Medical Degree from the Medical College of Ohio, and her Judicial Degree from the University of Maryland’s School of Law. She has served as the President of the Maryland College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. De Feo has practiced for 27 years in Emergency Medicine as both a Physician and as an Administrator.
The Delaware Hospice Center will offer specialized hospice care for those who require short-term stays for symptom management. A team of experienced professionals will provide care 24 hours a day while family members spend quality time with their loved ones.
The Center will better prepare the family for care at home. Giving a bed bath is second nature to a nurse or an aide, but might be very scary to someone inexperienced. Changing bed linens and administering pain medication are not simple matters. Care at the Center will ease the transition, demonstrating expert techniques for personal care and making it less stressful to return home.
Sixteen private patient/family suites will become a comfortable, peaceful home-away-from home for the family to gather. Caregivers, inexperienced with the more thorough and intimate care needed, will receive education and guidance. Guests are welcome to use the family centered spaces, including a kitchen, children’s play area, and a community resource and support center.
